We are currently experiencing linking problems with all Oxford University Press Journals. We have opened a case with Ex Libris and are working as fast as possible to resolve this issue. When attempting to link to an OUP journal from Primo you will be taken to the main OUP Journals website instead of the specific journal webpage. Below you will find instructions for how to access a specific journal. Click "Journals A-Z" on the left side of the navigation bar. Search through the list to find the specific journal you are looking for. In this example we will look for The American Historical Review. Click on the journal title. You will then be taken to the website of your selected journal. Each journal webpage may differ in design. However, in most cases you will want to find a link to the journal archive to browse all the available journal issues. For The American Historical Review you would want to click "browse the archive." From here you will be able to browse through the contents of each journal.
Please contact [email protected] with any questions. In our post titled "New Access Policy to Licensed Electronic Resources" we explained how you can add the proxy prefix (http://ezproxy.uky.edu/login?url=) to a URL to route an electronic resource through the EZProxy. You can use LibX to route electronic resource websites through the EZProxy without manually adding the proxy prefix yourself. Simply right-click on the webpage and select "Reload page via EZProxy." This will reload the webpage through the EZProxy by attaching the proxy prefix to the URL.
LibX also has many other helpful uses. Learn more about LibX from the Information Literacy Libguide in the box titled "Useful Tools." When using IE to access Reaxys you may encounter the message shown below. If you receive this message you will need to add http://saa-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com as a Trusted Site. You will also need to allow IE to display mixed content. Please follow the directions below to set these options. Add a Trusted Site In IE go to Tools > Internet Options. Then select the Security Tab. If you don't see the toolbar displayed at the top of the screen hit the ALT key on your keyboard. You can also reach Internet Options by selecting the cogwheel in the upper right corner. Click on Trusted Sites. Then click the Sites button. Add the text http://saa-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com to the field below "Add this website to the zone:" Then click Add. Display Mixed Content In IE go to Tools > Internet Options. Then select the Security Tab. Select Trusted Sites, then select Custom Level... Scroll down until you see the section called Miscellaneous. In that section go to Display mixed content. Select the radio button for Enable. Select OK.
While in Endnote click Edit > Preferences… > Find Full Text and enter the proper Ezproxy URL (http://ezproxy.uky.edu/login?url=) This should allow Endnote authentication via Ezproxy. Then go to References > Find Full Text > Authenticate… You should be able to successfully authenticate into our Ezproxy server. This work-around does not apply to Web of Science. For Web of Science:
1) Access Web of Science through the Library Web site http://libraries.uky.edu/record.php?lir_id=3288 2) Run your search and select your citations. 3) Use “Save to Endnote Desktop” function and it launches Endnote and automatically imports the citations. Effective immediately EZproxy service is required for both on-campus and off-campus access to most UK Libraries’ licensed resources. Current UK students, staff, and faculty’s initial access to a licensed resource will need to be made through a UK Libraries service - the Libraries web site, InfoKat Discovery, Research Guides, or “View Now @ UK” button.
To ensure continued and improved access to academic and scholarly electronic resources, the University of Kentucky Libraries’ licensed electronic books, journals, and databases will require channeling through the EZproxy server. EZproxy is a service which allows access to restricted electronic information purchased or licensed by the University of Kentucky Libraries for current UK students, staff, and faculty. Most users of UK Libraries resources should see no difference. Personal bookmarks, favorites, or shortcuts directly to licensed journals, books, and databases may need to be recreated after this change is implemented. To recreate personal bookmarks, favorites, or shortcuts:
Alternately the bookmark could be edited directly by adding the URL prefix as indicated on the EZProxy FAQ. If our licensing allows a product to be available through the proxy then you may create a link by including the following proxy prefix in the URL: http://ezproxy.uky.edu/login?url=
If an instructor has set up direct access to licensed resources from Canvas or BlackBoard and properly configured links for off-campus access as described on the EZproxy FAQ, there should be no change required. If an instructor has not followed the instructions on the EZproxy FAQ, then the links will need to be altered after this change is implemented. Why are we making these changes? Due to heightened activity in spider/robot attempts to use LinkBlue accounts in order to access UK restricted information resources as well as other access concerns, additional security measures have become necessary. Many of UK Libraries’ online resources are contractually restricted to current faculty, emeritus faculty, staff, students, & walk-in users for noncommercial, educational and research use. UK Libraries makes this change to adhere to licensing obligations, avoid disruption of service, and ensure continued access to academic and scholarly electronic information. For more information about the use of UK electronic resources please view Legal Use of University of Kentucky Libraries' Electronic Resources. Emerald publishing group has announced that maintenance on their platform Emerald Insight may cause users to have access issues beginning Saturday, November 14 and lasting for up to one week. If you experience access issues with the platform beyond the weekend, please report it to us at [email protected].
The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry has been working to improve their platform, however some users have reported encountering a paywall when trying to access the full text articles. If you are accessing JCP from on campus, or off campus through the proxy by navigating to the journal from the libraries' website and you encounter a paywall, please click the login link as illustrated below. This does not actually require login credentials but will allow access to the full text. If you encounter further problems with this journal, please contact us at [email protected].
The Annals of Internal Medicine is currently experiencing access problems for current subscribers via the publishers site. Fortunately, the journal content can still be accessed by selecting the EBSCO Academic Search Premier link from the SFX menu for the journal here.
UPDATE: Annals of Internal Medicine reports that the issue is now fixed. |
