More Nature Research titles are continuously being made available through our Readcube service.

UK Libraries patrons can expect content from these ProQuest resources to be discoverable and usable on the ProQuest Platform in early 2019:
This integration is set for release on January 3, 2019. At least initially, customers wishing to download, save to PDF, copy, print, save to bookshelf, highlight, annotate or bookmark will need to log into both My Bookshelf for Ebook Central and My Research for the ProQuest platform. Plans for integrated logins are a priority for ProQuest in 2019.
ProQuest also plans to redesign the search results page. You’ll see two new sidebars on the right side of your search results displaying the most relevant ebooks and videos. Please be aware that content will be available on both the old and new platforms until mid-2019 for uninterrupted access. See the support page for full details. The Libraries have added two Adam Matthew subscription databases for your use.

Please see the note below from Wolters Kluwer - Ovid:
"In order to ensure optimal security, we regularly scan our technology systems to proactively identify any risks. Recently, we discovered that our systems allowed use of older browsers that support a security protocol called TLS 1.1 or older to transmit encrypted data over a browser. There has been no security breach and your data is safe. We immediately disabled this on all backend critical systems that process any financial transactions. However, as an additional precaution we want to disable it for all of our public-facing systems. This includes those that Ovid uses. If you want to connect to Ovid using HTTPS, you will need to ensure you are using browsers that support TLS 1.2 or later. To accomplish this, please make sure you are meeting or exceeding the browser requirements listed below: • Chrome version 30 or greater • Internet Explorer version 9 or greater. For versions 9-10, TLS 1.2 is disabled by default so you will need to enable it in the browser settings if this hasn’t already been done • Microsoft Edge: All versions are compliant • Firefox version 24 or greater. For versions 24-26, TLS 1.2 is disabled by default so you will need to enable it in the browser settings if this hasn’t already been done. • Safari version 7 or greater • Safari mobile 5 or greater Please note that we will be making these changes to our system on August 1st. If you continue to use an older, unsupported browser you will only be able to access Ovid via HTTP (not HTTPS). Feel free to contact Customer Support with any questions by sending an email to [email protected]." Often, we get questions about the cost to UK Libraries for certain acquisitions. In particular, we are often asked about database pricing (EbscoHost, ProQuest, etc.). Here is the scoop on why determining cost is so complicated, and why we choose not to release specific cost data.
Database pricing is related to:
In InfoKat Discovery, a.k.a. "Primo," the facet for book chapters is now available. This means when you perform a search you will see "Book Chapters" results in addition to "Book" results, and you will be able to limit your "Everything" search to "Book Chapters."
There are a few important things of which to be aware concerning this new functionality:
Ultimately, this update to our search functionality does enable broader discovery of content, but please keep these important points in mind. Happy searching! As of June 22, 2018, CAS products, including SciFinder®, STN®, NCITM Global, MethodsNow® and www.cas.org will be dropping support for the oldest version of TLS, version 1.0, commonly referred to as simply TLS 1.0.
What does this mean? After June 22, 2018, you will be able to connect to CAS web products only using a browser that supports TLS 1.1 or higher. Connection from browsers that do not support this minimum TLS protocol will be prevented. Browser recommendations can be found by clicking on the following products: Will this impact you? If you are using a browser that has been updated since 2014, you will not be impacted, as you are on a supported browser.
